MARIELAS TACO

Marielas Taco is my new lazy dinner place -cheap and within walking distance.

I had ignored Marielas Tacos for so long because it looks so ghetto and parking is always a bitch in that area. I was the only non-Latino there, so I was hopeful that the food was going to be good. I went for the asada, pollo, and carnita soft tacos.
Each taco costs $1.20! Not Taqueria El Guerrero Truck's $2.80 disgusting tacos. I also ordered a horchata, which is a bit on a sweeter side for me. Total came out to $5. The wait took forever. I waited for 20 minutes before I said something...it turned out my food was done...they called out my number in Spanish...I need to ask the cashier how to say my number in Spanish next time....All three tacos were good. The asada was slightly dry for me but still pretty tasty. The pollo is shredded.
The carnita was flavorful. Marielas Taco also offers a bunch other meat tacos that I've never heard of...then again, I need to brush up on my Spanish. Stick to the asada and carnita. You will be happy!

BOND STREET RESTAURANT

My friend wanted to go to Katsuya tonight, but I suggested Bond Street as it was closer to where we were, and needless to say...we should have gone to Katsuya. Despite making reservations, the host and the hostess could not find my reservation...that's not the bad part--well the funny part. The restaurant was for the most part pretty empty, but they just stood their for 5 minutes trying to find our reservations and said, "well, umm...I think we can seat you..." meanwhile I can see my friend who has a NY attitude thinking, "What the hell is your problem, just seat us as there is no one here!" Ok, I have to admit, I was thinking the same thing.

My friend was disappointed that they didn't have the spider roll and the california roll. She felt so ill eating the tuna sashima, that she didn't bother eating her other rolls. I have to say, she was right, the tuna was was not fresh. The unagi didn't come with the sauce, and the spicy tuna handroll came with sauce on the side...

In a nutshell, if you like NYC Bond Street (which I've been to and it's better) don't expect the same thing with LA Bond Street.

Valet Parking is $7 with validation.

HAIFA'S RESTAURANT

My work always order from here or King David since I work with Israelis, so my rating is based on food and take out services. I would have given it a 4 but they always screw up the orders! The fallafal and turkey schwarma (sp??) are yummy.

LULU'S CAFE

Lulu's Cafe is a cute restaurant, but too bad the food doesn't match up or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? I'm an eggs benedict person, and sadly theirs are just below Denny's. My friend had the ranchos huervo which just looked like this big blog of fat. I honestly don't know how he was able to eat his dish.

THE IZAKA-YA BY KATSU-YA

My friend and I were lucky to get a table at 6:15pm today(this place is ridiculously packed at all times!). I had to order the crispy rice w/ spicy tuna as my colleague said it's a must order. Sadly, as Joy pointed it out, it's not crispy enough-probably because they used so much oil! Now, the sunset roll is a MUST order for those unagi lovers. Noshi Sushi's spicy tuna is still the best. Their hand rolls have too much rice.

Be sure to save room for dessert because their green tea ice cream is SO GOOD! Perfect --not too sweet, just that nice subtle finish taste of green tea. My friend ordered the Kahlua w/ vanilla bean ice cream and that was pretty yummy too.

PARC

I had a great time there as drinks were free for a special event. Place is cute and intimate. Whatever you do, DON'T swing on the tree unless you want to be yelled at.... good strong drinks.

SHATTO 39 LANES

I threw a surprise party earlier in the week, and granted the people who worked there were weary of my redecoration of the place...nontheless,.they were cool about it (probably because they didn't know what to say after I was very persistent that I needed the decoration for the bday party...) Yes, the place looks very ghetto, but it's CHEAP!!! Roughly $12 per person for shoes & for 2 bowling games. You can't beat the price. It's a place to invite a bunch people and not worry if a few people stiff you when the bill comes around because it's so CHEAP! Yes, the food there looks the food you ate in grade school, but golly geez whez, drinks are what elementary kids can afford. 4 alcohol beverages + non-alcohol beverage for $17 (not including tips). What can I say, I love Shatto 39!

LAX

Just another Hollyweird pretentious b.s. place...

My first time at LAX tonight and granted if I was a guy I might have enjoyed the place more as there was a porn party that night. I had called earlier in the morning to check if there was any event that night as I wanted to avoid a dreaded line standing out in the cold. The girl who answered the phone said,"Um..no." She clearly didn't know of the event or she was a porn star herself and didn't want to scare off future clients.

I stood in line for a little more than 30 minutes; granted less time than the other yelpers who complained about the place, but I was cleared to go into the vendor for a birthday party, but STILL the big black man wanted me to wait for another 10 minutes....I hate pretentious places, seriously, don't you want to make some money? I am a drinker; I even took the subway to the place! I'm a responsible drinker!

Besides the ridiculous wait time, I find it odd that the first bartender charged me $12/ drink as opposed to the other bartender (in the smoking area) charged me $10/drink. for the same drink....hmm..I happened to be a very good tipper, and get really pissed off when things don't add up (hence, the 1 star).

This place plays the usual hip hop music...I stopped dancing when they played the Brittney Spears song," Gimme More.." as all I could think of is that parody that I saw a few months back, "Gimme S'more." But as song states, "Gimme More"......
