ANN'S PANTRY

**Delivery only

Stick to breakfast here...

Ann's Pantry is another Korean owned deli/cafe in the Wilshire/ Miracle Mile area. I've never had a problem ordering breakfast from them. Their breakfast burrito is gigantic because they add potatoes. I like their "breakfast" potatoes --not hash brown, but round "home fries."

I ordered a "protein" style turkey burger, and I thought the lady comprende that I wanted my burger wrapped with lettuce...big sigh. I think I need to stick to ordering "protein" burgers at Garden of Eating, because Ann's Pantry gave me this: DSC05712
Well...she got the "no bread" part right. The turkey burger was dried. They forgot the mustard. The side pasta overdose on mayo. I also ordered a skinny latte and let's just say you should stick to Coffee Bean or Cappuccino's.

SONORA CAFE

Review for appetizer & drinks only

Went to Sonora Cafe with friends last week and I have say that they have the best tortilla chips. It's too bad that their salsa needs work. I ordered their zucchini/mushroom quesadilla and was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't taste the zucchini (I hate z, my friend is a veg.). It's too bad we missed the happy hours because their yummy watermelon margaritas sure added up --$12 a pop! Yeah....don't do what I did, go during happy hours (5-7pm, M-F).

PHO VIET

If you're allergic to crustacean, don't come here.

I was craving some Goi Cuon, and was excited that Pho Viet was walking distance, but to my bad luck, they only offer it with shrimp. One would think that they can make it with beef since it is a restaurant...and then I asked if I can have the vermicelli with beef instead of shrimp and pork and guess what the answer was? NO! Maybe they only have a microwave in the back?

They suck. Thank goodness I can trust Pho Cafe; I just need to drive...

CELADON

The food presentation is impressive, and the service is excellent.

We ordered the Tuna Tartare Lollipop (very filling), the Kobe Beef Spicy Tahina Slider (ok, tastes like a regular burger), Middle Eastern Style Hamachi Spoons (my favorite out of the 4) and the Hummus Parfait (the zataar bread is yummy). If I had to pick at something, it would be their lychee special drink --where's the lychee? It tasted more like a margarita...The next time I'm around, I'll know to order one less dish, so I have room for dessert.

Oh, if you're having trouble parking, just park at Farmer's Market for $2 --don't forget to get it validated...

VINUM POPULI

I really want to rate V.P. higer because it's a neat idea to pay wine by the ounces, but their white wine selections suck. I'll have to try the red wines next time. If you don't spend all your money on the card, you don't have to worry as it won't expire. The pinot grigio at Ugo (next door) tastes better --albeit on the sweet side.

**Note, when you call up Vinum Populi, it's Ugo, so when you're looking for the building number, just go to Ugo.

HAPPI SONGS ASIAN TAVERN

My friend invited me for drinks at this place, and since I was not in the mood to drink (very rare), I decided to have dinner there. I ordered the chicken yakitori and the vegetable udon. The chicken yakitori didn't taste any different from those kabbob vendors for $3 that you find at the street festivals and it was a bit on the dry side. The vegetable udon was bland--I had expected some flavor to the soup. I guess it's a good meal if I was on a diet...but I'm not. I am checking this restaurant off my list.
